What visa will I need when travelling to Bali?

Many travellers are eligible for a Visa on Arrival (VoA) or its electronic version (e-VOA) valid for 30 days, which can be extended once for an additional 30 days (total of 60 days. A valid passport with at least six months of validity beyond your arrival date is required. The standard Visa on Arrival fee is IDR 500,000 per person (approx. US $35).

A mandatory tourist levy of IDR 150,000 (approx. $9–$14) applies to all visitors. This helps support cultural and environmental preservation in Bali.

Starting September 1, 2025, a new All-Indonesia digital arrival card (via app or web) is compulsory. It combines previous health, customs, and immigration forms into one. Complete it within three days before arrival to receive a QR code for airport presentation.

As of May 29, 2025, extending your VoA beyond the initial 30 days now requires an in-person visit to a local immigration office. If you wish to extend your stay, we can assist with connecting you to the correct people.

Do you have any advice about travelling to Bali?

Bali’s culture is deeply spiritual and rooted in tradition. When visiting, dress modestly at temples, always wear a sarong when required, and avoid disrupting ceremonies. A smile and a gesture of respect—like placing your palms together in greeting—are always appreciated. Please be mindful of the island’s environment by reducing plastic use, conserving water, and supporting local businesses. Your awareness helps preserve Bali’s beauty and culture for generations to come.

Bali uses 230V / 50Hz electricity, the same as most of Europe. Plug types are Type C (two round pins) and Type F(Schuko). Most modern electronics, like laptops, phone chargers, and cameras, are dual-voltage and will work fine with just a simple plug adapter. If you’re bringing appliances from countries that use 110V (like the USA or Japan), you’ll need a voltage converter in addition to a plug adapter.
